Testimonials

Kaitlin Booth is as mighty as she is tiny... She has proven to me that she is ambitious, disciplined, and fiercely committed. She doesn’t take one moment for granted. She is obsessed with anything important. I’ve never seen someone more devoted to bettering herself or bettering the world around her.

Music has increased Kaitlin’s outlet for expressing emotions as she's gone through school and into the world. At just 10 years old, Kaitlin became accomplished on the guitar and loved it because she not only could she play original songs, but also jazz, classical, and rock. When Kaitlin turned twelve, she fell in love with the cello. She improved so rapidly that I had two colleagues  beg me to take her on even though I had no time for a new student. When Kaitlin first came to me, I was astounded that she had studied the instrument for only three years. She performed the J.C. Bach Cello Concerto and Prelude to the third Bach Suite, memorized and competently. However, Kaitlin had a lot to change. I think that it is kinder to be cruel to a student in the beginning, especially if they ever want to be any good, so I tore into her pretty hard. I wondered if this petite girl would ever come back.

To make a long story short, Kaitlin did come back week after week, always hungry for more. In the course of her one year of study with me, she tore down her playing and built it up again. Kaitlin’s done everything I’ve asked, everything that I’ve hinted, and more that I didn’t even think to suggest for her to do. Much of Kaitlin’s study has been centered on the classical repertoire. However, one of the most interesting things about Kaitlin is that she’s also been adventuring alongside me in my own pursuits to become a more well-rounded musician. Two years ago I became part of a program run by Yo-Yo Ma called the Global Musician Project, and much of this project is devoted to transforming the concept of what being a 21st-century musician means. There are many aspects of the initiative, but among the most important is being multi-skilled. Kaitlin has taken this more seriously than I could have even imagined.

Kaitlin wants to be at the forefront of a new generation of multi-skilled musicians and is doing everything she can to make it happen...

I would be remiss to not also say that Kaitlin is funny and interesting and a pleasure to be with. Without a doubt, she will be sought after by many students and professional programs.

We have had nothing but positive experiences over the last 2 years of working with Kaitlin! She is always positive and encouraging. She works hard to provide amazing opportunities for her students with recitals, master classes, summer practice challenges (including prizes!) and informing them about other opportunities such as community orchestras. Highly recommended!

Kaitlin is patient, listens, demonstrates, and watches so she knows how to best respond and instruct when we are in a lesson. She sees things, even the littlest tips, that help me develop my skill with the cello... She is wonderful at motivating and encouraging me as we go. She is an expert in her knowledge and skills, and she plays beautifully.

Kaitlin is such an attentive cello teacher. She meets me where my skills are and helps me build from there. She encourages me to make music, not just play notes. I highly recommend her as a teacher.
