Kaitlin Booth

Cellist, Eagle Mountain UT

Kaitlin Booth is a cellist, educator, and entrepreneur whose work bridges high-level performance with thoughtful, student-centered pedagogy.

Kaitlin holds a Master of Music degree in String Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Utah, where she studied with Pegsoon Whang, John Eckstein, and Michael Kaufman. Her graduate and post-graduate work emphasized the integration of performance, music theory, and embodied learning, and continues to inform her teaching across private and higher education settings. Kaitlin is currently a faculty member at Salt Lake Community College, where she teaches cello performance.

Known for her warm musical voice and grounded teaching style, Kaitlin is passionate about helping musicians of all ages develop technical fluency, musical understanding, and confidence. Her approach is gentle, organized, and practical, shaped by years of professional performance experience and her extensive training in music pedagogy.

As a performer, Kaitlin maintains an active and diverse career across solo, orchestral, and chamber settings. She has appeared in concert halls and venues internationally, including her solo debut in July 2024 in Vidin, Bulgaria, where she performed Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A minor with the Sinfonietta Vidin. In 2021, after winning Utah Valley University’s Student Solo Competition, she performed Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1 with the UVU Symphony Orchestra. She was also featured as a soloist in the West Coast premiere of Charles Mingus’s Half-Mast Inhibition with the University of Utah Wind Symphony in January 2023.

In addition to her work as a classical musician, Kaitlin is an in-demand session cellist and has contributed to recordings for a wide range of artists and composers, including David Archuleta, Mykel, Detzany, Joseph Osterstock, Brandon J. Kim, Gavin and Nicole McMahan, and Artiva Strings.

Kaitlin began studying cello at the age of eleven, with early musical experiences guided by cellist and multi-style musician Nicole Pinnell. Her dedication to the instrument deepened through participation in ensembles such as the Utah All-State Orchestra and masterclasses with artists like Steven Doane. These formative experiences fostered a lasting artistic curiosity and commitment to musical excellence, leading her to pursue formal study at the university level. In 2022, Kaitlin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Cello Performance from Utah Valley University, where she studied with Cheung Chau and Walter Haman.

As a business owner, Kaitlin is the founder of both Thrive Music Studio and the professional string ensemble Artiva Strings. Outside of music, she enjoys traveling, yoga, baking sourdough bread, and spending time with her husband and family.

Kaitlin performs on a Stradivarius-model cello crafted by Jason Starkie of Seattle, Washington. She teaches privately from her home studio in Eagle Mountain, Utah.
