Kaitlin Booth
Cellist, Eagle Mountain UT
Kaitlin Booth is a passionate cellist with an innate talent for teaching and performing. She enjoys working with students of all ages, and loves the thrill that comes when something difficult “clicks” for the first time. Kaitlin’s teaching style represents a gentle, organized, and practical approach to music that brings results, based on her professional experience and training.
Kaitlin's own performance history started at the age of 11 when she first picked up the cello. While studying with renowned cellist and multi-style musician, Nicole Pinnell, her love of the instrument and profound dedication grew, leading her to participate in ensembles such as the Utah All-State Orchestra, and perform in masterclasses with artists such as Steven Doane.
Kaitlin has a strong background in classical music and has performed in concert halls and venues across the world. Kaitlin made her international debut as a soloist in July 2024 in Vidin, Bulgaria, where she had the incredible opportunity to perform Schumann’s Cello Concerto in A Minor with the Sinfonietta Vidin. In 2021, after winning Utah Valley University's Annual Student Solo Competition, she performed Saint-Saëns’ Cello Concerto No. 1 in A minor with the UVU Symphony Orchestra. She also had the honor of playing the West Coast premiere of Charles Mingus' Half-Mast Inhibition in January 2023 with the University of Utah Wind Symphony as a featured cello soloist.
In addition to her solo performances, Kaitlin has been featured as a multi-style cellist on a number of recordings for local artists and composers, including David Archuleta, Mykel, Detzany, Joseph Osterstock, Brandon J. Kim, Artiva Strings, and Nicole McMahan.
Kaitlin received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Cello Performance from Utah Valley University, where she studied under the tutelage of Cheung Chau and Walter Haman (2017-2021). In 2025, she graduated with her Master of Music (MM) degree in String Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Utah, where she studied with Pegsoon Whang, John Eckstein, and Michael Kaufman.
Aside from teaching, Kaitlin enjoys traveling, performing with her string quartet, Artiva Strings (artivastrings.com), baking sourdough bread, and spending time with her husband.
Kaitlin plays on a Stradivarius-model cello crafted by Jason Starkie from Seattle, WA. She teaches from her home studio in Eagle Mountain, Utah.
